A tractor unit is a large truck or semi-trailer with a detachable cab and trailer, commonly used for transporting large quantities of goods within or between workshops, such as transporting goods from warehouses to assembly lines in the automotive manufacturing industry, and baggage transport at airports. It is also an important product in China's automobile exports. This vehicle type was formerly defined as the A2 driving license category in the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses," but is now called a "heavy-duty tractor-trailer."
Under the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), tractor units are one of the important vehicle types contributing to the growth of exports to member countries. The international standard "Commercial Vehicles - Electrical and Pneumatic Connection Positions Between Tractor Units and Trailers," revised under my country's leadership, has been officially released and approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Chinese brands such as FAW Jiefang have seen some development in overseas markets such as Indonesia. Regular and comprehensive inspections and maintenance of tractor units are crucial to ensuring their safe operation.
