Product Design Of Box Semi-trailers

Jul 19, 2026

The box semi-trailer series is suitable for transporting household appliances, light textiles, coal, sand and gravel, and other building materials, as well as sheet metal goods. It boasts strong load-bearing capacity, a high safety factor, and a rational design.

The frames are all through-beam structures, with straight or gooseneck longitudinal beams. The frames undergo shot blasting treatment, and the crossbeams are inserted into the longitudinal beams and welded together. With increasing demands for transportation efficiency and environmental protection, lightweighting has become a crucial development trend for box semi-trailers. Using lightweight materials such as aluminum alloys to manufacture the frame and body can significantly reduce the vehicle's weight. For example, a semi-trailer with an all-aluminum structure can reduce its curb weight by more than 3 tons compared to similar steel vehicles.

The body is made of high-strength cold-rolled corrugated steel plate, featuring a frameless structure and a large loading space. X-shaped bracing is installed inside the body. The body roof is available in various forms, including enclosed, push-pull opening, open, and open-top with a tarpaulin pole, to meet different loading needs. To improve loading efficiency, large-volume design is another important direction. Common technologies include using low gooseneck or forward-leaning frames to increase the effective length of the cargo box, and lowering the chassis height to increase internal vertical space. Simultaneously, to reduce wind resistance at high speeds and save fuel, the cargo box top often features a sloping design, ensuring a smooth and flat outer surface. In scenarios with high loading and unloading efficiency requirements, such as express delivery, larger side doors are also used to accelerate cargo turnover.

The suspension system consists of tandem leaf springs and suspension supports, with a relatively reasonable structure and good rigidity and strength, used to support loads and mitigate impacts. To further optimize performance, modern box semi-trailers can also use reverse-mounted leaf springs to lower the cargo box floor height, or use air suspension to improve ride comfort and cargo protection; some models are equipped with automatic transmissions and other features.
