Semi-trailer Maintenance

Jul 03, 2026

Tire Inspection: Check tire pressure monthly at room temperature. If it's below the normal pressure, inflate the tires immediately. Inflated or underinflated tires affect driving safety. Check for cracks in the tires; replace them immediately if any safety hazards are found. Choose tires of the same model.

Battery Maintenance and Inspection: Check that the battery is securely fastened. The electrolyte level should be between the upper and lower limits. If it's close to the lower limit, add electrolyte or distilled water to the upper limit. Ensure good contact between the positive and negative battery cables and keep the battery clean and dry. For vehicles that have been stored for an extended period, disconnect the battery cables and reconnect them approximately every two weeks. Start the engine and run the engine for about 20 minutes. If the battery charge is significantly low, recharge it immediately.

Clutch Master Cylinder Fluid Level Inspection: A clutch fluid level between the high and low limits is normal. If it's below the standard line, the master cylinder or wheel cylinder piston cups may be damaged. This will cause difficulty or inability to shift gears while the engine is running. Take the vehicle to the nearest repair shop immediately for inspection.

Brake Fluid Level Check: Brake fluid levels between the high and low marks indicate normal operation. If the brake fluid is near or below the low mark, it suggests a possible leak or excessive brake pad wear, requiring immediate inspection at a repair shop. When adding brake fluid, ensure you use the same type to avoid damaging the brake seals and protect the paint from corrosion.

Engine Coolant Level Check: Never open the radiator cap while the engine is hot, as this could result in burns from splashing coolant or hot steam. After the engine has cooled down, check the coolant level. It should be between the full and low marks. If not, add distilled water, purified water, or coolant. Do not exceed the full mark after adding water. If the coolant level drops rapidly within a short period, check the cooling system for leaks or have it inspected at a repair shop.
